We all face challenges in life, but Aubrey Johnston's journey has been more difficult than most. Diagnosed with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) and interstitial lung disease, she found herself battling depression, anxiety, and negative self-talk. However, Aubrey's story isn't one of succumbing to her circumstances - it's about taking control and creating the future she desires.
Aubrey didn't let her illnesses define her. Through determination and resilience, she graduated college cum laude, moved to California to live by the beach, and started her own website to uplift and connect with others facing similar experiences. Our conversation with her delves into the power of our thoughts, the importance of being aware of them, and learning to harness that power to overcome adversity.
Join us as we explore Aubrey's inspiring journey of perseverance, taking risks, and giving yourself grace in the face of chronic illness. From her courageous move to California to her impressive academic achievements, Aubrey's story serves as a powerful reminder that we can still find our purpose and live a fulfilling life, even when faced with significant obstacles. Don't miss this incredible conversation with a true fighter and survivor.
Aubrey's short bio in her own words
I am a young professional working as a Technical Support Analyst in San Diego, California. I graduated about a year ago from Colorado State University with a double major in Communication Studies and Spanish. I enjoy going to the beach, playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with loved ones!
After falling extremely ill during my freshman year of college, I was diagnosed with a Primary Immune (PI) disease called Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID). After years of health complications and biopsies, I have also been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease. I rely on donated plasma in order to live a full and (somewhat) healthy life.
After dealing with depression, anxiety, and uncertainty, I decided to start a journey to get my life back and create the future I desired. I developed my own website where I began writing articles about my experience, in which I have gotten the chance to uplift others and connect with them about their experiences. My goal is to continue sharing my story and raising awareness about PI diseases!
